June 04 Prayers Needed for Cleve. There are many of you in this great internet world that read blogs, I hope you will stop in read this and give a little time in prayers.
The story starts with a boy, who grows up in Indian Reservation. Life is not always kind to Native People and like many this boy saw the worst of the worst in life. Things that hurt his soul and he carried with him his whole life. I met Cleve so much later in life, fell in love with him. He is the light in my heart. But life hasn't been kind ot us and have ended up separated twice now for various reasons. This week Cleve came back into my life. My heart is so filled with joy and happiness, but it is also filled with fear. You see Cleve is still very ill. I know the chances of him finding a kidney at this point are slim. I would love a life time with him, but I can't selfishly ask for him to linger in pain and sickiness for years. I will ask you please pray for us to have a little time together, that for what ever time he has left it be filled with joy, warmth, forgiveness, a sense of belonging and love. Pray that hurt and scars from the past fall away and the burdens be lifted. That they be replaced with a wild and free sense of love, belonging and peace. That we can walk together as best friends till the end of this journey, and when the time comes he leaves with his soul in complete happiness, peace and love. I know it might sound as if I am giving up, but I am not. I still hope and pray for that kidney for him. I would love it if his physical body could heal. But what is in his heart and soul is more important, and what he carries into the next world matters most. I want that to be the wild abondon of love and a boundless peace and joy. So please pray for him. Please dance for him. February 09 Frustration and Disappointment, The search for GhostbonesI have been looking for months for Jerry Jones aka Ghostbones. I have been wanting to purchase a few prints from him, but low and behold he has completely disappeared. If anyone knows how to find him would you please contact me privately and let me know how to get ahold of him. I don't often buy other photographers work, I generally don't have a lot of wall space with my own photos and my Native American Art collection. But Jerry (ghostbones) is about one of the best artists I have ever seen and I really really want a print of the girl in the red cape coming out of the grave mound.
Jerry, If you are reading this, I just am so disappointed that you disappeared. I can understand that people might be taking advantage of your images online. To those who are serious fans of your work, it is bit harsh for you to just completely disappear. Not everybody is out to misuse your work. There are those of us who have immense respect for your work and have waited months and months till we could afford to ligimately buy your work, not take it off line. I hope you will contact me, I really had my heart set on that one print, at the very least. I also like the girl running in the fall scene. July 06 2008 National Cherry Festival Airshow, Blue Angels PerformAs many of you know or have guessed I am a huge Blue Angels fan. I have been since I first saw them perform back in 1987 in Jacksonville florida. Every other year, they pay a visit to Traverse City Michigan and I get the opportunity see this remarkable planes perform. This year the girls and I waited four hours to see them fly in , and as you can see it was worth the wait. I think this a one of my favorite shots with the vapor trails spiraling out behind the wing tips. This picture doesn't begin to do justice to how beautiful it was.
This is a picture of my favorite manover. I saw the very first time back before the safty regulations were change, and they could fly straight at the crowd at a much lower level. I was lucky enough that year to be sitting center stage. This particular manover they are flying side by side, then they roll and cross right in front of each other. When you are in front of them you would swear they would hit each other. It is really quiet a rush.
This shot is a tiny bit blurry, but I have to include it. This is the first time I have caught the soloists at the moment they pass each other. Not an easy feat when they are coming from oppisite directions at around four hundred miles per hour. I learned this year, that manual focus is the way to go. You have to follow one soloist in and guess when they are going to cross. So bit blurry or not, I was jumping up and down when I got this shot.
This is what you call flying dirty. If you look closely both the landing gear and the tail hook are deployed .
This is called a bomb burst. Each plane separates from a Delta position and flies in it's own direction.
Since I live at the end of the airport, I am usually totally immune to the noise of the planes, But an F/A 18 has a totally different sound. This morning was I was sleeping soundly which is a rarity for someone with fibromyalgia. At 7:20 am I hear the distinctive whine of those big General electic engines winding up for take off, my first eye pops open, Roar of take off, my second eye pops open. I briefly consider waking up, tried to dispose of the idea vainly hoping to get a bit more sleep... Then they buzzed the house. Okay now totally awake, at 7:35 am, I am standing blurry eyed with the camera to see which one woke me up (needed telephoto lens to see who was missing from thier parking spot) . I was a bit unappericative of my favorite plane this morning but I soon recovered my good mood and enjoyed a beautiful day by the beach filming again.
As National Cherry Festival Airshow 2008 draws to a close, we bid our Beloved Blue Angels farwell till 2010. Thanks for the Great Show guys and gals, it was awesome. We Send out a special wave to pilot number six from Lapeer Michigan, it is great to see a home state boy flying in our show.
I also want to send another special hats off to all those who are a part of the " Friends of the Airshow" that work so hard all year long to fund raise for our National Cherry festival Airshow in an effort to make sure this show keeps the tradition of staying completely free to the pulblic. They are also in charge handling all the arrangements which included many special apppearences where pilots and crew get to share abit about their jobs with thousands of people, particularly young kids that dream of flying and special needs kids. This year they even arranged for three bus loads of "Make a wish" kids to be at the airshow and go back to Coast Guard hanger to watch the Blue angels land. Many of those "Friends of the Airshow" are associalte with Northwestern Michigan College where we have a fantastic Aviation program.
A Final Note...Thank you to the Coast Guard. They do a terrific job all year long and don't get the glory the Blue Angels do. They have worked hard this week with the Airshow in town and they really do deserve a Huge round of applause. Thier message " Wear your life jackets, remember your safty equipment and please becareful on the water!" You don't want this diver to be trying to save you.
June 02 I just have to Brag!!!Today I handed my six year old my camera with my 55 mm lens on it and just let her do her thing. These are some of the shots she came back with. I am so impressed with her compostion and sense of style . So I just have to brag her up a bit, and will be adding her line of pictures to the page on a regular basis.
May 14 Beware of your comments!I wanted to let everyone know if you get a comment in a foreign language take the time to do a Google translation http://translate.google.com/translate_t?sl=zh-CN&tl=en . I found six comments this morning on my space, all of which contained links to a sanitation company in china. I have a feeling those links might possibly lead you to places that install spy ware on your computer. So if you can't read, copy text and translate it before clicking on links. |
